edinburgh international festivalThe first few weeks in August bring the world famous international festival. But there's not just one festival, there's loads!: Military Tattoo, International Fringe, International Festival, International Book Festival, and many more. It's a crazy hectic, exhausting sensory overload - and we love it! cinemasEdinburgh has plenty of choice if you are into celluloid.The Filmhouse and The Cameo show arty and world films, whereas the major new releases and blockbusters can be viewed at a number of locations: Odeon Cinema Lothian Road, The Dominion in Morningside, the Warner Village at Greenside (5 mins walk from the apartment) and the Ster Century at Ocean Terminal, Leith. edinburgh's hogmanay"Should auld acquaintance be forgot...." Ah, the words of the immortal Bard, Robert Burns help us remember that New Year is a time for excessive partying leading to amnesia and the loss of key facts like who you friends are, where you are, and what your own name is. Hogmanay is Scotland's New Year, celebrated on the 31st December. Celebrations start around the 27th and continue to around the 3rd January. The now world famous Street Party is THE place to be.
